This course will introduce the student to the
skills and techniques of the Japanese art of Shotokan
Karate. Emphasis will be placed on physical conditioning,
basic strikes and blocks, forms (kata), sparring
techniques, self-discipline and self-development.
Transfer credit: UC; CSU (E2).
Mondays and Wednesdays: 1:35 to 2:55 p.m.

yourself with class procedures.
Letter Grade
(A - F); or Pass/No Pass (you must request this
option)
NOTE: Regular
attendance is very important to success in this class.
Students who accumulate more than six absences may be
dropped from the course.
Your grade
will be based upon the following:
Please make
every effort to come to class on time. Arriving late
disrupts the class. If you arrive late, follow the
procedures listed in the Introduction Sheet in your
Course Packet. Students who are tardy will receive
only half-credit for attendance.
