IMPORTANT NOTE: This exercise is divided into 4 parts. Parts I - III (60 points) are below.

• You will be brought to what's known as the "Basic Search" mode. This is the starting point for searching the catalog.

• Complete the exercises below. Follow the directions carefully!!

AUTHOR SEARCH
  • The word "Search" appears followed by 2 boxes. The first box allows you to choice your search method. Notice that the default search method is "Any Word(s)" (also known as a keyword search). Click on the down arrow inside this box and a menu of choices will appear. Point to author, and click once.

  • Move the cursor into the blank text entry box and type: sagan, carl.
    Press <enter>
    or click on "Go."

  • The result of your search is an alphabetical list of authors' last names. The first name on the list should be:
    SAGAN, CARL, 1934- (the year refers to Sagan's year of birth).
