What does Tech Prep offer that is unique?
Tech Prep offers students strong academic courses and career basics within broad career clusters such as Health Careers, Early Childhood Education and/or Business.

What is the Tech Prep Admissions Process & Credit Posting Procedures in the San Mateo College District?

  • High school teachers, counselors or advisors inform students about Tech Prep.
  • Students enroll and complete Tech Prep articulated classes at the high school.
  • Students complete the Tech Prep application provided by the teacher.
  • High school teacher sends completed applications to the high school coordinator:

  • Each Division Office produces the certificates and mails them to the high school teacher.
  • If a student attends one of the three colleges, Tech Prep credit is issued once the residency requirement is met by the student.
  • All students must complete a regular college application and go through the matriculation and registration process.
  • Students completing the residency requirement for Tech Prep (6 units with an overall grade point average of 2.0) will have Tech Prep credits earned posted to their transcripts.
