Three Levels of Achievement

The Certificate of Completion is a concentration of study in a particular area.  Typically Certificates of Completion are 6-15 units and can be accomplished in two semesters.

The Certificate is also a concentration of study but the coverage is more in depth and more comprehensive.  A  Certificate is at least 16 units and can be up to 39 units.  Most Certificates can be finished in 3-4 semesters.  For working students it may take longer.

The CIS Associates Degree is the Certificate (16-39) plus completion of the General Education requirements.

All three levels of achievement are recognized with a CSM issued certificate.  Once you have taken the required courses you can apply for a certificate by

(1)   downloading and filling out the appropriate form

(2)   getting your advisor’s signature

(3)   taking the form to the Admissions and Records (Building 1)
